Mental Health/Wellness

Our wellness program’s vision is to provide support to newcomers facing mental health issues and provide counselling as well as referral services to ensure their health needs are cared for.
The objective of this project is to provide short-term counselling to newcomers to support their mental health and well-being. In addition to counselling services, we will provide support groups for newcomers to help them gain valuable skills, self-care strategies and build a support system.
The Wellness Support Worker will be available to provide short term counselling to clients dealing with various challenges. This counselling can address a range of different scenarios, including;
- Depression and anxiety
- Substance related disorders
- Mood- related disorders
- Anxiety and Trauma related disorders
- Psychotic disorders
- Stress Management
- Self-Care
- Conflict Resolution
- Problem-Solving Skills
Once the need is identified, the worker will discuss an action plan in which they will both work together in identifying the challenge and coming up with solutions. This program is funded by the Immigrations, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
In addition to our funded programing, Tesoc will continue to educate and empower the community on mental health issues, signs/symptoms and how to help those in need. We hope to ensure that those that suffer in silence, get the help that they need.
Educational workshops will be organized to raise awareness of mental health illnesses and the signs/symptoms. In addition to raising awareness, this project will also work to engage participants in learning methods in order to have positive mental health. With education, we hope to be able to provide the tools required to those that are suffering and to help caregivers as well.
